A Tribute to KA (our cover girl)
KA is the code name of an anonymous Japanese girl who posed in front of a camera at the Psychology Department in Kyushu University in 1998, showing seven basic facial expressions. These pictures were inserted into The Japanese Female Facial Expression (JAFFE) Database.
In the last 20 years of research, tens or even hundreds of machines have processed KA’s face and we can still find some results spread in the Internet. The collaboration of KA and of the other anonymous women and men who have contributed with their face to the AI research is priceless, but their faces are known more by machines than by human beings.
This processed faces collection of KA is a tribute to these women and men and it wants to bring back their image into existence.
